Chicago, Justice Alito wrote that “Self-defense is a basic right.” Furthermore, Justice Scalia called self-defense “the central component” of the second amendment in the Supreme Court case decision District of Columbia v. Heller of 2008. This means that gun ownership is central to self-defense, which is a basic right.
